The Hope Volunteer Fire Department - Station 38 and its auxiliary spent the weekend serving the community during the township’s annual picnic, an event that blended celebration with public service.
Firefighters and auxiliary members cooked and served food to local residents, taking time to engage with families and share safety information. The event highlighted the department’s commitment to community outreach while maintaining readiness for emergencies.
That readiness was put to the test when, during the picnic, the department was dispatched to Route 80 for a motor vehicle accident. In addition to responding to the crash, firefighters coordinated two helicopter landing zones for visiting aircraft—a demonstration of their operational skill and adaptability. The activity didn’t stop there.
On 29th September, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service pilot returned to Hope, this time alongside Atlantic Air 1, to assist with a medical emergency involving a local resident.
Department officials thanked the community for their continued support and praised the teamwork of all involved in making the weekend’s events and emergency responses a success.
