Southwest Harbor, Maine — Oct 2 : Although the area is still experiencing drought, Southwest Harbor Fire Department have stayed vigilant while focusing on the seasonal change and the types of calls that come with the colder months. Members received training on pellet stove emergencies and chimney fires on Thursday. Following a class, crews dressed up and practiced a number of hands-on exercises, such as how to operate an aerial ladder, operate a chimney, and use property-protection techniques.
