Pownal, Vt. — September 16 — Firefighters from the Pownal Fire Department took time Tuesday evening, to clean and test drafting access points along the Hoosick River.

The operation ensured that crews can quickly establish water supply from the river when responding to incidents in areas without hydrants. Regular maintenance and testing of drafting sites help improve pump performance and readiness for rural firefighting operations.
