Manchester, Vt. — October 3 — The Manchester Fire Department has installed a new bridge-mounted standpipe near Winter Street to improve water supply operations in the Barnumville area.
The project, funded through a grant secured with help from the Vermont Rural Water Task Force and installed by Got Big Water, will allow firefighters to establish faster and more reliable water sources in areas without hydrants.
Fire officials said the upgrade will greatly benefit homes along Barnumville Road West and toward the town line, reducing setup time and boosting firefighting efficiency in rural zones.
