Mashpee Ladder 1 Assists in Overnight Cotuit Blaze

Barnstable, Mass. — September 27 — Mashpee Fire Department’s Ladder 1 responded on mutual aid to a late-night structure fire that displaced seven residents at 60 Content Lane in Cotuit. The fire was reported at 11:06 p.m., and the first Cotuit unit arrived at 11:10 p.m. to find the single-story home heavily involved in fire. All residents escaped safely. A working fire assignment brought crews from COMM, Mashpee, Hyannis, Sandwich, West Barnstable, and Joint Base Cape Cod, with Barnstable and Yarmouth providing station coverage.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and Barnstable Police Department.
