Reading, PA - Around 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 7th dispatchers at the Berks County 911 call center began receiving calls for a vehicle burning in the garage beneath M&T Bank. Chief Moyer (Car 7) arrived on the Washington Street side with smoke showing from the stairwell. Firefighters were sent down to recon the best position for a hose stretch before deploying a line from Washington Street. The fire was knocked down quickly with crews searching the building above the garage. The amount of smoke generated caused firefighters to remain on the scene for a lengthy ventilation operation. No injuries were reported.
