This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The FDNY celebrated 100 years of National Fire Prevention Week with its annual Fire Safety Day at Rockefeller Center. Children from schools throughout the five boroughs participated in the event, where they learned invaluable lessons in fire safety from members of theFDNY Fire Safety Education Unit and the FDNY fire and life safety mascots, Hot Dog and Siren.

The FDNY will swore in the participating students as junior Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and students will have the opportunity to interact and view demonstrations with FDNY members. Among those on hand were FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, FDNY Chief of Department of Department and FDNY Foundation Chairman Matthew J. DiLiberto
