Jamestown, R.I. — October 5 — Sunday morning was hectic for the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department (JFD), as they responded quickly to four different calls. Crews responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Sampan Avenue at 9:29 a.m. to start the day. Members were sent to St. Matthew's Church for a medical emergency shortly after, at 10:07 a.m.
At 10:10 a.m., while crews were still active, JFD units were called to assist with a motor vehicle fire on the Newport Bridge’s westbound center span, working alongside Newport Fire Department to bring the blaze under control.
Finally, at 12:39 p.m., crews responded to a technical rescue near 609 Beavertail Road, where a hiker was trapped on the rocks. JFD deployed its ATV and drone units to locate and reach the individual, who was recovered safely and without injury.
