Jamestown, R.I. — October 4 —On October 4, 2025, at around 10:07 a.m., the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department was called to a reported motor vehicle fire on Route 138 West close to the center span of the Newport Bridge. Jamestown crews were alerted by a fire alarm that the Newport Fire Department was also on the way. Heavy smoke could be seen from the center span of the bridge while traveling. The first arriving units had to use the westbound lane to drive in the opposite direction to reach the scene due to traffic congestion.
Firefighters discovered a single car with a well-involved engine compartment fire when they arrived. Crews swiftly contained the fire and stopped additional damage by coordinating with Newport Fire units. The Jamestown run card for the incident included C2 and E2
