Grand Isle, Vt. — October 5 — The Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department formally retired its venerable brush truck after 22 years of use. The reliable vehicle has been moved to the Beddington Volunteer Fire Department in Maine, where it will continue to support firefighting efforts for many years to come. The brush truck was essential to Grand Isle Fire's operations during its tenure. In addition to being the department's go-to vehicle for towing the boat during water-related emergencies, it was the main wildland fire apparatus and was used to transport firefighters to distant fire scenes.
