Newark, Vt. — September 23 — Residents are reminded by the Newark Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. that the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation (FPR) has issued an order imposing a statewide burn ban until further notice. Due to the ongoing drought, Newark has already been subject to a local burn ban for a number of weeks. Now that the state has issued its directive, the restriction will continue to be in place in order to lower the risk of wildfires.
