Grand Isle, Vt. — October 4 — The Grand Isle Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary has once again stepped up in support of the department, funding the materials needed to build a new gear dryer. Assistant Chief Joe Clark located a suitable design online and personally built the dryer, which will help the department better protect its firefighters. Clean, dry gear plays a crucial role in reducing exposure to harmful contaminants — an important step in lowering the long-term cancer risks faced by firefighters.
