Fire companies from Blair and Huntingdon counties responded to a working residential structure fire that required a tanker shuttle operation to maintain water supply in an area without municipal hydrants.
The fire was dispatched at approximately 4:35 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in the 2600 block of Kettle Road in the Altoona area of Blair County, Pennsylvania. Sinking Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Station 24, was the primary responding department, with Engine-Tanker 24 and Engine 24-1 responding on the initial assignment.
Additional companies assisted from Lakemont, Greenwood, United Fire Department, Bellwood, Geeseytown, Hookies, Neptune and Allegheny Township. Mutual-aid resources also responded from Alexandria and Warriors Mark in Huntingdon County.
Firefighters established a rural water shuttle to supply suppression operations, using tankers and support apparatus to transport water to the scene. The response required coordination among multiple departments to maintain water availability while crews operated at the residence.
Information regarding injuries, the extent of damage and the cause of the fire was not available in the initial report.
