Sept. 21, 2025 — The Jackman–Moose River Fire & Rescue Department held a successful live smoke training session Sunday, drawing strong participation from its members and even welcoming a firefighter from Rockwood Fire & Rescue.
Firefighters went through multiple evolutions inside a smoke-filled house, practicing how to locate the source of a fire under realistic conditions. The session also included search and rescue drills, ventilation training, and thermal imaging exercises.
The department extended thanks to David Lessard for providing access to the house, which allowed for this valuable hands-on training opportunity. Gratitude was also expressed to Bishop’s Store and the Harmon family for supplying food, and to local residents for their patience while the road was closed for several hours.
“These opportunities help us sharpen our skills so we’re ready for any emergency,” the department said.
