Sept. 29, 2025 — The Belfast Fire & EMS Department expressed gratitude this week to JB Turner and the crew at Front Street Shipyard for their assistance during a waterborne medical emergency on Monday.
Crews were summoned to aid a patient aboard a sailboat traveling from the Turtlehead area in Penobscot Bay. Normally, responders would rely on the Harbor Master’s boat, but recent engine issues limited its use. Turner stepped in to provide support.
Together, Turner, the Harbor Master, and two firefighter/paramedics reached the vessel, stabilized the patient, and safely transported them back to Belfast, where they were transferred to Waldo County Emergency Department. The response was a collaborative effort among multiple agencies and Front Street Shipyard.
“Thanks again for the assistance,” the department said in a statement, reminding the community to stay safe.
