Deposit, N.Y. — September 11 — This afternoon, Front Street in the Village of Deposit was temporarily closed between Allen and Court Streets as firefighters from the Deposit Fire Department worked to extinguish a shipping container fire.
Officials said the fire was caused by welding work being done on the container and was ruled accidental. Crews contained the blaze to the contents of the container, preventing it from spreading.
Responding apparatus included Telesquirt 22, Pumper-Tanker 22, and Eastern Broome Ambulance 8421. No injuries were reported.
