Millinocket, ME - The Millinocket Fire Department conducted its weekly training session last evening, focusing on a critical skill for firefighter safety and efficiency: air management.

The session featured a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) air consumption drill. Firefighters donned full PPE and SCBA gear before navigating a challenging obstacle course designed to replicate the physical demands of real-world fireground operations.

The purpose of the drill was to help participants better understand and control their air consumption under stress. By tracking how long their SCBA air supply lasted during the exercise, firefighters were able to evaluate their physical performance, breathing techniques, and overall stamina.

Training of this kind is essential to ensuring crews are prepared for the unpredictable and high-stress conditions encountered during emergency responses. It also emphasizes the importance of situational awareness, self-discipline, and communication while operating in full gear.

The department expressed pride in its members for their continued dedication to both the community and the organization.
