Recruits Practice Core Fireground Skills During Academy Drills

Westport, Conn. — September 12 — Assistant Chief of Training Jay Kronenberger visited the Connecticut Fire Academy on Friday to watch and assist the department's recruits, according to the Town of Westport Fire Department. As part of the academy's core training, recruits participated in drills during the visit that included search-and-rescue operations, hose work, and ladder climbs. According to Westport officials, the 14-week Recruit Firefighter Program at the Connecticut Fire Academy requires participants to complete hundreds of hours of training and combines theory and practical skills.
