Westport, Conn. — September 8 — The Town of Westport Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire on Route 15 southbound at the former Exit 42 location on Monday at approximately 9:24 p.m. When Units Engine 2, Engine 6, and Car 3 arrived, they discovered a car with an active fire. To stop the fire from spreading further, crews swiftly put it out by stretching a 1 ¾-inch hose line. For about half an hour, all southbound lanes were blocked while the fire was being fought.
