Southwest Harbor Fire Department Marks 10 Years as Regional Testing Site

18 September 2025 - The Southwest Harbor Fire Department once again partnered with Industrial Inspection & Analysis to host the annual hose and ground ladder testing at the station. This year marked the 10th time the site has been used for the important work, which continues to be regarded as one of the best testing locations in the area thanks to its facilities, ample space, and conveniently located fire hydrant at the front of the station.
Fire departments nationwide are required each year to pressure-test all fire hoses and load-test their ground ladders. By partnering with a professional testing company, departments ensure the work is completed thoroughly, safely, and efficiently—without placing additional demands on their members.
The event also included participation from neighboring departments, including the Swan’s Island Fire Department and the Islesford Volunteer Fire Department. The collaboration highlighted the strong partnerships among local departments as they work together to keep their communities safe and equipment ready for service.
