Shirley N.Y.- On September 14th at about 1:50 PM the Mastic Beach FD was activated for a reported house fire on Pinewood Dr. Mastic Beach FD was auto mutual aided for an Engine to the scene as well per the daytime response plan. Mastic Chief Rudy Sunderman advised Fire-Com he was responding. He was advised by the dispatcher that they had 2 calls on it for a fire in the kitchen of the home. Mastic Chief Sunderman arrived on scene and advised he had active fire in the kitchen the fire was mostly knocked down but they needed engines to continue in to the scene .
On Arrival of Mastic Beach FD’s Tanker 5-13-2 a line was stretched off the truck. Mastic Engine 5-12-2 and Mini rescue 5-12-10A also responded into the scene and crews linked up with Mastic beach. The fire was quickly knocked down. Mastic Fire Police assisted Mastic Beach Fire Police with Traffic Control. Mastic beach Ambulance was on scene and treated one person for smoke inhalation and they were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. Scene was under the command of Mastic Beach FD Chief Fred Loiacono. No other injuries were reported, and all units went back into service within the hour.
