Officers Commended for Heroic River Rescue in Orange

Orange, MA - Orange Fire Rescue EMS and the Orange Police Department responded to West River Street for a report of a child in the river holding onto an object to stay above water.


According to reports, the child had been fishing with his brother when he slipped and fell into the river. Officers Bisceglia and Kovasevic were the first to arrive on scene. They entered the water and waded across the river to reach the child.


All individuals were able to safely return to the riverbank. The child was evaluated by EMS personnel and did not require transport.


The swift and decisive actions of Officers Bisceglia and Kovasevic, who risked their own safety to rescue the child, are commendable.
