FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS (BRISTOL COUNTY) - Around 0945 hours on the morning of Wednesday, September 30, 2020 the Fall River Fire Department responded to 92 Ballard Street for a reported building fire. Car-2 arrived on-scene and reported smoke showing, and ordered a working fire.

The fire was in the basement of a large 3-story wood framed occupied apartment building. As companies opened up and performed searches of the building they found the fire had extended up to the top floor. Above the working fire assignment, an additional engine was requested to the scene.

During the fire, three hand lines were stretched and put into operation. Crews were able to knock down the heavy fire within 30-minutes. Crews spent time on-scene overhauling and checking for extension. All occupants were reported to be out of the building. Residents of the three family apartment building could be seen in the street, holding pets and belongings. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
