This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The Ridgefield Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fire on the 500 block of Grand Avenue. Upon arrival, RF-7 observed no visible smoke from the 2½-story private multi-family residence. A further investigation revealed heavy smoke conditions on the second floor and in the attic, along with a report of a child trapped inside.

Engine 2, arriving first due, laid a supply line, conducted a primary search—which confirmed no occupants were trapped—and advanced a hoseline to the fire floor. The fire was located within the walls between the second-floor kitchen and attic and was brought under control within 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported. The Ridgefield Fire Prevention Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire. The residence was deemed uninhabitable, and displaced residents were relocated to temporary housing.

The Ridgefield Fire Department extends its thanks to @cliffsideparkfire, @palisadesparkfd, @fortleefiredept, @ridgefieldparkfirenj, and @fairviewfiredepartmentnj for their assistance.
