Memorial Service For Fallen Firefighters held in Brookhaven

Ridge N.Y.- On Sunday September 26th the Brookhaven Volunteer Firefighters Museum held their Annual Memorial Service for those who were lost. Each year firefighters from across the town of Brookhaven gather at the Museum located at Fireman’s Park in Ridge and the Honor Guards March from their department memorials in to the field located at the museum where they gather for a service that includes a reading of names of the Firefighters and Ladies Auxiliary members who were lost over the last year. This year the members were led to the ceremony area by Brookhaven Town Firefighters Museum President Patrick Perry. Officers of the board that were present included 1st Vice president John Masem , 2nd Vice President Paul Calagari , Secretary Jeff Bails . The Ceremony was lead by Chaplins Ed Brooks ( Mastic FD) and James Vaz ( Brookhaven FD). Names of the members of each department’s members lost from late 2019 through 2021 were read off, as a name was read off VP Masem rang the bell. The Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine along with other elected leaders who were present were given the opportunity to speak as was Museum President Perry prior to the closing of the service. The Service lasted under an hour.
