Rindge Crews Responded to Second-Alarm Ashburnham Fire

Ashburnham, MA — September 20 — Rindge Fire Department units responded to Ashburnham for a second-alarm structure fire at 104 Ashby Road. Around 8:01 p.m., Ashburnham firefighters were called to the scene after a report of a fire at a home. Rindge units 26 C1 and 26 Tanker 1 were dispatched to support the local response.

The incident was upgraded to a second alarm as more personnel and equipment were requested.

Rindge’s assistance provided extra staffing and water supplies for the ongoing operation.

The Rindge Fire Department is based at 150 Main Street and offers fire protection and non-transport Advanced Life Support services to the town.

The department is equipped with two Class A engines, a 2,100-gallon tanker, a rescue truck, and a hose truck that carries 3,200 feet of large-diameter hose.These resources enable the department to effectively respond to local emergencies and assist with mutual-aid calls.

Firefighters stayed at the Ashburnham incident as crews worked to control the fire.

According to a post-incident report, the fire caused significant damage to the residence.

The response highlighted the importance of mutual aid in providing additional equipment, water supply, and personnel to a working structure fire when local resources are already engaged.
