Smooth LZ Operation Supports Medevac in Elwood

On Sunday, September 21, at 10:24 a.m., the Elwood Volunteer Fire Company – Station 160 was dispatched to 500 Elwood Road to assist EMS crews with a landing zone assignment. The call was recorded as Incident #112 for the department in 2025.
Firefighters worked with EMS personnel to establish and secure a safe landing area for an incoming medical helicopter. Crews ensured the zone was clear of obstacles and maintained perimeter safety during the aircraft’s arrival and departure.
The operation was completed without incident, and units returned to service shortly after the patient was transferred to the flight crew.
