Pickup Truck Fire Contained on Leesville Avenue; Haz-Mat Team Called for Fuel Spill

23 Sept. 2025 - Emergency crews responded to a vehicle fire reported on Leesville Avenue. Upon arrival, Engine 5-4 discovered a pickup truck fully involved in flames, complicated by a ruptured fuel line that posed additional hazards.
Firefighters immediately deployed the front 1 ¾-inch bumper line and were able to bring the blaze under control quickly, preventing further spread. Due to the significant fuel runoff, Middlesex County Haz-Mat was requested to provide specialized assistance at the scene.
The coordinated response and swift action of all crews ensured that the incident was contained without further escalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Avenel Fire Prevention Bureau.
