Hillside, N.J. — September 4 — The Hillside FMBA’s Tour #4 dedicated its Thursday shift to a specialized rope-rescue training session designed to enhance the department’s technical response capabilities. Under the guidance of Training Officer Capt. E. Trela, crews practiced assembling hauling systems—rope-based configurations that make it possible to lift, lower, or move heavy loads safely.

The training focused on building mechanical advantage, setting strong anchor points, and mastering rope system techniques. These skills are critical in emergency situations where firefighters must move victims, downed colleagues, or heavy equipment under challenging conditions.
