Armor Firefighters Contain McKinley Parkway Blaze
A reported structure fire on McKinley Parkway brought out Armor Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. and multiple mutual aid departments Monday afternoon, but the incident was quickly contained to an attic exhaust fan, officials said.
Armor and mutual aid partners from Hamburg Volunteer Fire Department, Scranton Volunteer Fire Company, Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company, Newton Abbott Fire Company, Inc., and Windom Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched at 12:05 p.m.
2nd Assistant Chief Bienias marked en route at 12:08 p.m. as Scranton 1st Assistant Chief Chiappone arrived on scene. Bienias reached the location at 12:10 p.m. and established command.
Armor Engine 2, led by Captain Brodfuehrer, responded at 12:12 p.m. and arrived at 12:14 p.m. After assessment by Scranton Chief Taylor, Scranton 1st Assistant Chief Chiappone, and Hamburg 2nd Assistant Chief Moses, it was determined the fire was already out and only Armor’s engine would be needed.
The blaze was confined to the area and object of origin — an attic exhaust fan. Town of Hamburg Police assisted at the scene. All Armor units cleared and were back in service by 12:39 p.m.
Armor Volunteer Fire Company thanked its mutual aid partners for their prompt response and noted it is accepting new members; those interested can contact armorvfcrecruitment@gmail.com.
