SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Tuesday, Sept. 23) — Members of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company joined Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department for a joint training session Tuesday night.
Firefighters practiced drafting, the process of drawing water from a natural source such as a pond or stream into a fire engine when hydrants are not available. The water can then be pumped to other trucks or directly onto a fire.
Officials said the training helped sharpen skills while strengthening relationships among departments that rely on one another during emergencies.
