Rochester Firefighters Knocked Down Plante Street House Fire

Rochester, NH — September 19 — The Rochester NH Fire Department responded around 1:55 a.m.to a reported structure fire at 30 Plante Street. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire burning in the enclosed porch of a single-story home, as well as a nearby shed and vehicle. A box alarm was called for mutual aid, and off-duty Rochester firefighters were recalled to the scene.

Neighbors noticed the fire and helped alert the two residents, allowing them to evacuate before the firefighters arrived.

Both residents were later taken to a local hospital for evaluation, with one suffering from a burn injury. Smoke alarms were present in the home but did not sound to warn the occupants.

Firefighters first tackled the heaviest fire from the exterior before entering the home through the side and rear.

Crews searched the basement and first floor, put out the remaining fire, and checked the attic to ensure the fire did not spread further.A cat was rescued from the residence but did not survive.

Firefighters from Dover, Farmington, and Somersworth assisted at the scene, while Milton, Barrington, and Berwick crews provided station coverage in Rochester. Rochester Police, Frisbie EMS, and Eversource also helped with the response.
