SILVERDALE, Pa. (Wednesday, Sept. 3) — Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company assisted Station 24 on Wednesday afternoon at a scrap metal fire in the 6700 block of Easton Road.
Engine 59 was dispatched at 1:06 p.m. and assigned to draft from two portable water ponds set up outside the scene. With no hydrants along that stretch of road, the ponds were used to collect water from tanker trucks for fire suppression.
Fire officials said Engine 59 pumped water from the ponds to other apparatus operating closer to the fire. Crews described it as a strong collaborative effort among the companies involved.
