September 3, 2025 — The Village of Ravena Fire Department was called during the evening hours to support law enforcement in response to a significant incident later determined to be a swatting call.

Fire personnel assisted with traffic control while multiple law enforcement agencies conducted operations in the village. Due to potential safety concerns as the incident developed, Ravena Fire requested the Coeymans Fire District to stand by at their station to ensure coverage for any additional emergencies.

The incident concluded safely with no injuries reported, thanks to the coordinated efforts of law enforcement. Authorities have confirmed the event was a swatting incident — a false report intended to trigger a large-scale emergency response. The matter remains under investigation by law enforcement agencies.

The Ravena Fire Department commended the dedication of police officers involved and reminded the public of the dangers such false reports pose to both the community and first responders.
