(Cohoes, NY)-- The Cohoes-Waterford Elks lodge #1317 hosted a memorial service Sunday September 12th, to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The event featured firefighters from the Cohoes and Waterford fire departments as well as the Cohoes police department. The ceremony featured patriotic music and poems. Cohoes fire department captain Jason Geary and State Police trooper Mark Cepiel spoke, reflecting on their time at ground zero in the days following the 9-11 attacks. As a token of appreciation, the elks presented challenge coins to four Cohoes firefighters, two Schuyler Heights firefighters, and a State trooper who took part in the rescue/recovery efforts at ground zero.
