Western Berks firefighters complete National Honor Guard Academy

WESTERN BERKS, Pa. (Wednesday, Sept. 17) — Two Western Berks firefighters graduated from the National Honor Guard Academy, bringing advanced ceremonial training back to their department.

Firefighters Denise Klahr and Andrew McIntyre attended the program, hosted by the Allentown Fire Department Honor Guard. The academy is nationally recognized for its rigorous curriculum, which covers drill and ceremony, flag etiquette and funeral protocols for public safety personnel.

Officials said the training equips the department to conduct community ceremonies, parades and memorials with professionalism and reverence, ensuring proper honors for fallen firefighters and other first respon
