Manchester Crews Knocked Down Salem Road Basement Fire

Manchester, CT — September 3 — The Manchester Fire Department responded shortly after 7 a.m. to a reported fire in the area of 42 Salem Road and located a basement fire at 32 Salem Road. Crews immediately began a fire attack.

Five Manchester companies responded to the incident. Firefighters stretched multiple attack lines, searched all floors of the home and ventilated the structure as needed. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. The home sustained moderate damage and was declared uninhabitable.

Three occupants were displaced and were assisted by the American Red Cross. One person was evaluated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation but declined transportation to a hospital. No other injuries were reported. East Hartford Fire Department provided coverage for Manchester while local crews operated at the fire.

The Manchester Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the origin and cause of the fire. The investigation was ongoing following the initial response.
