Newington Firefighters Resolved Hazmat Call

Newington, CT — September 2 — The Newington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a hazardous materials situation at a home located on Robbins Avenue near Vivian Street. Firefighters were called to examine the situation and advised residents and drivers to stay away from the area during the response.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and a regional hazardous materials team were informed as part of the response.

Authorities did not provide information about the specific substance or condition that led to the call.

Fire department staff worked to evaluate and manage the reported hazard.

The problem was later found to have been resolved, and there were no reports of injuries. Once the area was safe, the responding teams began to remove and clear the site. No additional action by the fire department was needed.
