OLEY, Pa. (Wednesday, Sept. 17) — Fleetwood firefighters joined a multi-company silo rescue training hosted by Oley Fire Company, practicing specialized techniques for removing a patient from grain entrapment.
Four members of the Fleetwood Volunteer Fire Company and their grain bin rescue equipment took part in the final session Tuesday night, alongside Exeter and Earl Township firefighters. The class covered ropes, rigging, high-angle tie-offs and patient removal.
Fleetwood officials said 16 members are now trained and familiar with using the department’s grain bin rescue panels carried on Rescue 45. They encouraged other departments interested in the equipment to schedule a training night.
