Gas Leak Promptly Contained at Sixty Acres Development in Jackson

Jackson Station 55 responded to the Sixty Acres development for a reported gas leak. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) personnel, who reported high gas levels detected from a meter outside one of the units.
As a precaution, the affected building was evacuated with assistance from the Jackson Police Department and Jackson Township EMS. Fire crews performed air monitoring and ventilation operations before transferring the scene to NJNG.
The incident was resolved in approximately one hour. No injuries were reported, and all residents were safely able to return to their homes.
Responding agencies included Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 – Station 55, Jackson Township EMS, the Jackson Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications.
