On September 15, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Jackson Fire units were dispatched to a commercial fire alarm at 1 Nottingham Way. Upon arrival, crews initiated evacuation procedures and determined that a refrigerant (Freon) leak had triggered the alarm. The incident was upgraded to a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) response.

After about four hours of hazard mitigation, the scene was declared safe and turned back over to building management.

Jackson Fire expressed appreciation to Ocean County HazMat (85), Jackson Police Department, JTEMS, and Station 55 for their assistance and teamwork.

As a reminder, officials emphasized the importance of immediate evacuation when an alarm activates—early, full evacuation ensures everyone’s safety.
