MIDLAND, Pa. (Wednesday, Sept. 3) — Firefighters in Midland conducted driver training exercises Wednesday evening, navigating engines through narrow neighborhood streets to prepare for emergency responses.

Photos from the training showed the department’s new engine moving carefully between vehicles parked on both sides of the street, leaving little clearance. Officials said while crews managed the course slowly, valuable time can be lost in emergencies if streets are congested.

The department urged residents to park as close to the curb as possible without blocking the roadway, fold in mirrors when possible, and avoid parking near intersections, in restricted zones, or along yellow curbs and posted fire lanes.
