WEST KINGSTON, R.I. (Wednesday, Sept. 3) — Firefighters from Station 240 conducted a hands-on training drill Wednesday night focused on chainsaw use and safety.
The session was held outdoors at the fire chief’s yard, where members practiced cutting techniques on a downed tree. Training emphasized proper tool maintenance, correct cutting methods and safe operating practices.
Junior members also participated under close supervision, working on smaller limbs to gain experience.
Officials said the exercise prepared crews for real-world situations such as downed trees after storms and brush fires where chainsaws are often needed.
