Good things are happening at Station 18. On April 5, the Canton station on the south side of town officially reopened, with Engine 18-2 now responding from that location. The reopening was made possible through the efforts of numerous community members and has already proven beneficial. With several new members from the Canton area recently completing fire school, the move provides strong logistical advantages. Additionally, the reopening has encouraged several previously inactive members to return to active status, further strengthening the department’s numbers and overall readiness.
As of August 23, 2025, Rescue 18-9 has also begun responding from the Canton firehouse alongside Engine 18-2. While the apparatus remains under the control and operation of the Ambulance Squad, the move allows Station 18 personnel to assist Squad 18 members in staffing and responding more efficiently. These developments reflect Station 18’s ongoing commitment to improving service and enhancing safety for the community.
