PITTSBURGH (Wednesday, Sept. 17) — Local first responders were recognized Wednesday at PNC Park during the Pittsburgh Pirates’ home game against the Chicago Cubs as part of First Responders Day.

Personnel from the Pittsburgh bureaus of Police, Fire and EMS took part in the ceremony, with representatives throwing out the first pitch. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Honor Guard also participated in the National Anthem.

“After a multi-year hiatus, the members of the Honor Guard are working diligently to create a team that will allow us to honor the service and sacrifice of all officers and first responders,” said Lt. Bob Monticelli. He thanked the Pennsylvania State Police Ceremonial Unit for its continued support.

The Pirates organization expressed appreciation to city first responders for their service.
