Penn Hills firefighters respond to 11 calls in single day

PENN HILLS, Pa. (Wednesday, Sept. 10) — Penn Hills No. 7 Volunteer Fire Company reported 11 incidents Wednesday, ranging from alarms and structure fires to storm-related hazards.
Calls included several commercial fire alarms, with responses on Cambridge Square Drive, Frankstown Road, Universal Road, Saltsburg Road, and William Penn Highway in Wilkins. Crews also handled a commercial structure fire on Oak Manor Place and a residential fire on McCutcheon Lane.
Firefighters were called to Jefferson Road, where a tree and wires came down on an occupied vehicle, and to Garlow Boulevard for a carbon monoxide incident with illness reported. Later in the day, crews responded to another downed tree and power lines at Wexford Lane and Old William Penn Highway.
Company officials thanked volunteers for their work during the surge of calls.
