BALDWIN, Pa. (Friday, Sept. 19) — Baldwin Fire Rescue announced Friday it has received a grant from Norfolk Southern Railway to purchase a new Utility Terrain Vehicle, expanding its ability to respond in hard-to-reach areas.
The department has taken ownership of a 2025 Polaris Ranger 1000XP Crew. Officials said the UTV will be used for brush fires and off-road rescues where larger fire apparatus cannot reach.
“This new equipment will allow our firefighters to better serve and protect the residents of Baldwin Borough and surrounding communities,” the department said in a statement.
Baldwin Fire Rescue thanked Norfolk Southern Railway for its support and the sales representative at American Powersports in Sandusky, Ohio, for assisting with the purchase. The vehicle will be outfitted with equipment, lighting and striping before being placed in service.
