SANDYSTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sept. 7, 2025) — The Sandyston Township Fire Department hosted its chicken barbecue fundraiser Sunday, thanking community members and volunteers who made the event possible.

Organizers also recognized local supporter Jeff of Layton Hay and Produce for donating corn for the meal.

After the event wrapped up, firefighters gathered for a farewell to Firefighter Jacob Fryer. Lt. Darren Fryer provided food from Smokin Mo’s and a cake to mark the occasion.

Jacob Fryer is set to begin basic training with the U.S. Marine Corps on Monday, Sept. 15.
