Aggressive Tactics Bring Ahl Avenue Fire Under Control Quickly In Colonie

On August 25, 2026, at 12:09 AM, The Fuller Road Fire Department, West Albany Fire Department, Colonie Village Fire Company for the Rapid intervention team, and Shaker Road Fire Department was dispatched to 21 Ahl Avenue for a reported structure fire with possible entrapment. The first arriving Chief on scene immediately transmitted the signal thirty as he had heavy smoke showing with heavy fire in the attic from the structure and command was able to confirm that everybody was out of the structure.

The first arriving engine from the West Albany Fire Department immediately deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line and multiple firefighters made entry to the structure and quickly conducted a primary search of the building to ensure that everybody was accounted for. Truck three arrived on scene and set up in the front of the structure. Firefighters tossed ground ladders to the front of the house and firefighters made their way to the roof to conduct ventilation. Firefighters on the second floor had heavy fire on the second floor and in the attic area and firefighters on the second floor began to open up the ceiling area exposing the heavy fire condition above them. As firefighters were working on one side of the structure the other side, heavy smoke was pushing from the other side of the building and the fire on the second floor ignited and command requested an additional rapid intervention crew to the scene as the Colonie Village Fire Company was going to work on scene. The Stanford Heights Fire Department was requested for their rapid intervention team to the scene and Midway Fire Department for an engine to the scene.

Firefighters on the second floor continued to make an aggressive interior attack knocking down the heavy fire condition above them. Firefighters deployed another hand line to the second floor and continued to make progress and conditions from the exterior portion of the structure began to rapidly improve. All of the visible fire from the exterior portion of the structure appeared to be knocked down. As interior operations continued to work they sent firefighters outside as they had a significant amount of resources inside of the building. Crews on the roof reported to command that the roof was spongy as firefighters were conducting vertical ventilation.

Within twenty-five minutes firefighters had the fire under control. The Town of Colonie’s fire services arrived on scene and began to conduct their investigation into the fire. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation at this time. Due to the rapid response due to the dedicated and aggressive firefighters of the Fuller Road Fire Department, West Albany Fire Department, Shaker Road Fire Department, and Colonie Village Fire Company they were able to bring this incident under control quickly and prevent it from spreading to other portions of the home.
