September 18, 2025 — The Cherry Hill Fire Department proudly announced the promotion of Richard Oberle Jr. to the rank of Captain during a ceremony held Thursday evening.

Captain Oberle, a graduate of Recruit Academy Class 06-01, has served in multiple assignments throughout his career, including Squrt 1331/Rescue 13, Ladder 1324, Squad Company 13, Squrt 1351, Squrt 1341, and Engine 1322. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2019, where he was assigned to Squrt 1341 on C Platoon before stepping into his new role as Captain of Engine 1352 A Platoon.

Beyond his operational work, Captain Oberle is a member of the department’s Cancer Prevention Committee and currently serves as Union President for Local 3198. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Camden County College.

He was joined at the ceremony by his wife, Cindi, and son, Eric, as Fire Chief leadership and the Cherry Hill Board of Fire Commissioners congratulated him on his promotion and wished him success in his new position.
